Subsea 7 will be responsible for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of three pipelines and associated structures, which will link Maria as a subsea tie-back to existing infrastructure.
The pipelines include a 26km production flowline, which will connect to the Kristin platform with direct electrical heating (DEH) cable, a 46km plastic-lined water injection pipeline from Heidrun, and a 22km pipeline from Ã…sgard that will supply lift gas to Maria through the Tyrihans subsea field.
Subsea 7 will install the subsea production system (SPS) structures, including two integrated templates, subsea manifolds and the production riser base at Kristin, in addition to installing static control umbilicals between Kristin and the Maria.
The company’s offices in Stavanger, Norway will immediately commence project management and engineering work, while offshore activities are planned to begin in 2016 with plans to complete in 2017.
Wintershall Norge managing director Bernd Schrimpf said: "With this contract, we are moving ahead with the execution of our first operated development in Norway.
"This is the second major subsea contract awarded by Wintershall for the Maria project and underlines our commitment to developing fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf."
Last year, Wintershall awarded NOK1.8bn contract to FMC Kongsberg Subsea for SPS and SPS Frame.
With a 50% share, Wintershall Norge operates the Maria field, which is located around 20km east of the Kristin field in the Norwegian Sea. Petoro owns a 30% share in the license, while Centrica Resources has the remaining 20%.
