STWA Inc will partner with the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) to test its Applied Oil Technology (AOT) system for reducing the viscosity of crude oil.

The tests will evaluate the magnitude and duration of the viscosity changes, and characterize the potential reduction in power required to pump crude oil due to the application of AOT on oil pipelines.

This will help the company and PRCI members determine its value to the oil pipeline industry.

PRCI’s director of facilities programs Michael Whelan said that PRCI and STWA are entering into a contract to co-fund the field testing at the US Department of Energy’s Rocky Mountain Oilfield Testing Center.
