The company closed the facility following a power failure, which was reported on 19 November, to carry out investigations for any damage or malfunction. The Hammerfest plant received electricity from the grid after the power failure.
Investigations suggested that interference to the power system during the maintenance work on the facility’s battery powered reserve supply led to plant’s own power and that from the grid being switched off.
Statoil’s Hammerfest LNG plant processes 4.3 million ton of gas per year from the natural gas field Snohvit located in Norwegian Sea.
The company’s share of production is approximately 50,000 barrels of oil equivalents per day from the Snohvit field.
