The company plans to drill the well from the Ocean Vanguard drilling facility in position 58°54’12.3 north and 2°29’37.7 east in the central North Sea.
In the Geitungen segment in Johan Sverdrup, the well will be drilled 2.1km north to northeast of well 16/2-12, according to Statoil.
With an ownership interest of 40%, Statoil is the operator of the well, while other licensees are Petoro, Det norske oljeselskap and Lundin Norway with 30%, 20% and 10% respectively.
Statoil said that the well 16/2-19 is the 15th exploration well to be drilled in the license area and the 11th exploration well in or near the 16/2-6 Johan Sverdrup oil discovery in license 265.
