Arise Windpower develops land-based wind power projects in southern Sweden. The company has agreements with land-owners that allow for the construction of around 300 wind turbines and the generation of 2TWh renewable energy per year.
Statkraft is already co-operating with Sweden-based pulp and paper manufacturer, SCA, to develop seven wind parks in wooded areas around Ostersund, Sweden, with an annual production potential of 2.8TWh. The investment is in the order of NOK14 billion.
Jon Brandsar, executive vice president for wind power at Statkraft, said: Land-based wind power in Sweden is a market with excellent growth potential for Statkraft. Through Arise Windpower we get to participate in new projects under the management of a competent organization.
