The CO2 will first be compressed through a centrifugal compressors, after which the refrigeration unit Startec designed will liquefy it so that it can be pumped into the ACTL.
The 240km ACTL pipeline will transport CO2 to conventional oil recovery projects throughout central Alberta where it will be injected into oil reservoirs.
Strartec principal and managing director Kristi Zadderey said that the carbon capture program provides environmental and economic benefits by lessening CO2 emissions while increasing economic activity in Alberta.
