The facility located nearby SSE’s Keadby power station is expected to have an installed capacity of between 68 and 85MW and is estimated to supply power to 38,000 and 47,000 homes in North Lincolnshire.

SSE plans to commence construction of the wind farm later this year while completion is scheduled for 2014, subject to a final investment decision.

The 34 turbine wind farm developed by the RES Group has received planning approval in 2008.

SSE finance director Gregor Alexander said the company will pursue both acquisitions and disposals in order to optimise its wind farm portfolio in UK.

SSE sold its interest in three operating wind farms totalling 96.8MW in Scotland and Northern Ireland, in April this year.
