Spectrum Brands has signed a contract with Carrefour Group to supply its alkaline and zinc batteries, as well as rechargeable chargers and accumulators in Europe and Latin America.
Under the under the two-year contract, Spectrum Brands will provide batteries under the VARTA brand in Europe and under the Rayovac brand in Latin America.
Spectrum Brands CEO and Global Batteries division president Dave Lumley said the VARTA and Rayovac brands will serve Carrefour’s desire to provide same performance at better value products to their customers.
"The Spectrum Value Model provides value to the consumer with products that work, while delivering higher margins and lower acquisition costs to retailers, along with excellent category management and high service levels," Lumley said.
