The 370kWp system on an architectural landmark owned by Finpiemonte Partecipazioni, a holding of mixed private/public enterprises in the Piemonte region of Italy consists of approximately 2030 panels and is claimed to provide more power peak density than competitive systems.
The system took approximately three weeks to install by Gruppo Caraglio, a local energy performance contractor (EPC) selected by ARDEA Energia and did not require additional engineering or penetrations of the roof.
Solyndra president Clemens Jargon said that this project is a great example of why Italy continues to be a strong market for Solyndra systems.
"Working closely with ARDEA Energia and the local utilities, we were able to design a system that generates the most possible power from their rooftop to take advantage of government incentives, while not requiring re-engineering of this well known building," Jargon said.
