Welspun will install Solar Frontier’s CIS thin-film solar modules at several of its projects across India.
A series of power purchase agreements have been signed between Welspun and several state governments in India.
Welspun aims to commission more than 1GW of solar and wind capacity within fiscal 2015.
Welspun Renewables director Sindoor Mittal said: "Solar energy is a priority sector for meeting India’s high demand for clean, renewable and economical energy.
"The government of India has set a target of 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022, of which 100 GW will be solar energy. Agreement with Solar Frontier brings us one step closer to meeting our green energy commitment."
Solar Frontier CEO Atsuhiko Hirano said: "We are honoured to continue working with Welspun Renewables on its mission to help India meet its growing energy requirements in an efficient, environmentally-friendly manner."
India presently has a 2.7GW of solar power generation capacity. The government is planning to produce 100GW of solar capacity by 2022.
The government has recently issued guidelines to establish about 25 solar parks, each with a capacity of 500MW and above.
