Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) has appointed Zhou Jie as a non-executive director of the company and the re-designation of Wang Zheng Gang from non-executive director to alternate director, effective January 23, 2009. Zhou is an executive director and the executive deputy chief executive officer (CEO) of Shanghai Industrial Holdings Limited. He is also an executive director and the executive vice president of Shanghai Industrial Investment (Holdings) Co. Ltd.

Zhou also served as a director of Shanghai Industrial Pharmaceutical Investment Co. Ltd., Chia Tai Qingchunbao Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., Shanghai Sunway Biotech Co. Ltd. and The Wing Fat Printing Co. Ltd., as a non-executive director of Shanghai Fudan-Zhangjiang Bio-Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. and the chairman of the supervisory committee of Bright Dairy and Food Co. Ltd. He has graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a master’s degree in management science and engineering. Previously, Zhou was the deputy general manager of the investment banking head office of Shanghai Wanquo Holdings Ltd. (now Shenyin & Wanguo Securities Co. Ltd.) and earlier held the positions of the chairman and general manager of Shanghai S.I. Capital Co. Ltd. He has over 10 years’ experience in investment banking and capital markets operation.

Wang Zheng Gang is the chief representative of the Shanghai representative office of Shanghai Industrial Holdings Limited and chairman of SIIC Management (Shanghai) Ltd. Zheng Gang is also the vice chairman of Bright Dairy and Food Co. Ltd. and a director of Shanghai Urban Development (Holdings) Co. Ltd. and Shanghai Hu-Ning Expressway (Shanghai Section) Co., Ltd. Zheng Gang was the head of Shanghai Dongfeng Rubber No.2 Factory, principal of Shanghai Dongfeng Farm, vice chairman and general manager of Shanghai Agricultural Industrial and Commercial Corp. Ltd. and a director and general manager of SIIC Africa Enterprise Ltd. and general manager of the enterprise management department of Shanghai Industrial Investment (Holdings) Co. Ltd. Zheng Gang has graduated from the School of Management of Fudan University with a master’s degree in economics and has over 30 years’ experience in enterprise management.
