Comprising the Environmental Impact Statement from the Environmental Protection Authorities (SERMANAT) and the Change of Land Use permit, the permits enable the company to start major construction to support its plan for an exploration/development field work program on the property.
The program will include a preliminary pilot testing plant operation for the purpose of testing zones at the property.
The approval came after an extensive environmental study of the land where the El Creston property is located, as well as the surrounding community, and involved Commission Nacional Forestal (CONAFOR), Procuradoria Federal Para el Medio Ambiente (PROFEPA), the city of Culicant (Office of the Secretary of the Government), University of Sinaloa, Independent Biologists, Comisio Nacional del Agua (CONAGUA) and SEMARNAT.
The next step of the permit process is to obtain the effective work date that the company can start construction, which is expected to be in January 2014.
Sierra Iron Ore president and CEO Wally Boguski said the final approval of the permits represents an important milestone for the company’s near-term plan to be in preliminary pilot production on the El Creston property.
