The total capacity of the onshore turbines is 600MW, sufficient to supply more than 350,000 European households with clean wind power.
The agreement with the subsidiary of Italian utility Enel provides for delivery of the turbines between 2011 and 2014, and includes an option for delivery of a further 600MW of wind turbines.
Under the supply agreement, Siemens will deliver different types of wind turbines, rated at either 2.3MW or 3.6MW, featuring rotor diameters between 82m and 107m.
The scope of supply also includes the delivery, installation and commissioning of the turbines as well as a service agreement.
The turbines will be deployed at onshore wind power plants in Italy, France, the Iberian Peninsula, Greece, Romania and Bulgaria.
