Siemens has secured an order from GS Electric Power and Services to supply gas turbines for the 400MW Bugok 3 natural gas-fired power plant in South Korea.

The combined-cycle power plant, which is expected to start operation in 2013, will attain an efficiency of above 60% and supply electricity to more than 300,000 people.

Under the contract, Siemens will supply a new-generation SGT6-8000H gas turbine, a SST6-5000HI-L steam turbine, a hydrogen-cooled generator SGEN6-2000H, a BENSON HRSG as well as electrical equipment and the instrumentation & controls system SPPA-T3000.

The company will supply the Bugok 3 power plant as a turnkey project and has concluded a long-term maintenance agreement for the main components.
