Siemens Power Generation has been awarded a contract for the delivery of 140 of its 2.3 MW wind turbines for the Whitelee Wind Farm, located south of Glasgow in Scotland, by Scottish Power.

With an installed capacity of 322 MW, Whitelee will be Europe’s largest wind farm, Siemens says.

Total contract value, the largest wind farm contracted by Siemens to date, is approximately €350 million.

Completion of the project is scheduled for summer 2009.

Later this year, Siemens also begins delivery of 14 wind turbines with a capacity of 1.3 MW each for Scottish Power’s Wether Hill Wind Farm in Scotland.
