Siemens Energy has handed over the Malzenice gas-fired power plant with a gross generating capacity of 430MW in Slovakia to German utility E.ON.

The combined-cycle power plant, which has been erected by Siemens as a turnkey project, is located near Trnava, around 60km north-east of Slovakia’s capital, Bratislava.

The power plant with a peak efficiency of over 58% is a single-shaft configuration, in which the main components – gas turbine, steam turbine and generator – are arranged on a single line of shafting.

Siemens supplied all the major components including a SGT5-4000F gas turbine, a SST5-5000 steam turbine, the hydrogen-cooled generator of type SGen-2000H, the entire electrical hardware, and the SPPA-T3000 I&C system.
