The Shaw Group has won a contract from the US Department of Energy (DOE) for advisory and assistance services to the Office of Nuclear Energy.

Shaw will support the Office of Nuclear Energy’s mission towards advancing nuclear power as a resource capable of meeting the US’ energy, environmental and security needs.

The company will provide analytical assessments, conceptual designs, research and development support, advice on policy development and research and development requirements, training and tours of operational nuclear facilities.

In related work for the DOE, Shaw Areva Mox Services designed and is constructing the US’ Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility.

When completed, the facility will be capable of converting 3.5 metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium annually into MOX fuel assemblies for use in commercial nuclear power plants.
