Launched in collaboration with Hitachi High-Technologies, the semiconductor chipset is a measurement and communications core for smart devices used in electric power generation and transmission, with advanced time synchronization capability to provide real-time measurements vital to grid reliability and efficiency enhancement, while accelerating the shift to renewable energy sources.

MaRS Cleantech Fund co-managing director and SEI Board member Tom Rand said SEI’s chipset provides highly detailed, real-time visibility on the grid, which will enable users to even see the direction of power flow.
