A US$21M cloud seeding trial programme that aims to increase snowfall and flows into Australia’s water reserves has begun in New South Wales.
Snowy Hydro Corporation started seeding clouds with chemicals in June and has since observed significant dumps of snow in the area. The test is to last six years, with targets of 10% increases in snowfall and 6% more run-off.
