The contract relates to the first phase of the project in the Gunnedah Basin where Aston Resources is preparing to begin operations in late 2012.
Sedgman managing director and CEO Nick Jukes said that Sedgman is also in negotiations with regards to contracts for later stages of the project.
Maules Creek is a coal deposit and full run-of-mine production rate from this mine is expected to be 13 million tonnes per annum.
