Merger
The UK government will not refer the proposed merger between Scottish Power and Pacificorp to the Competition Commission.
These assurances include a commitment by Scottish Power to set up a holding company to separate generation and non-generation activities. Following the proposed restructuring, which will take place within three years, a financial ring fence will be placed around the electricity supply and transmission businesses currently carried out by Scottish Power.
