UK based Salamander Energy has started spudding of the Angklung-1 exploration well in the Bontang PSC in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The well will be drilled to approximately 3200m total vertical depth sub-sea and is targeting oil and gas in the Upper Miocene – Pliocene sandstone reservoirs.

The mean gross pre-drill estimate of prospective recoverable resource is approximately 125mmboe.

The well will be drilled by the Hakuryu 5 semi-submersible rig in a water depth of 290m and it is expected to take approximately 40 days to complete on a dry hole basis.

Salamander Energy holds a 100% operating interest in the Bontang PSC.
