Spanish construction firm Sacyr Vallehermoso has secured a €59m ($77.9m) contract from Generación Andina, for the construction of two hydroelectric plants in Peru.

Under the contract, the company will construct 8 de Agosto hydroelectric plant with a total installed capacity of around 19.83MW in Humalíes province, and 8.6MW El Carmen hydroelectric plant in Huánuco.

Sacyr, through its subsidiary Sacyr Construcción, will undertake equipment supply, electromechanical assembly and commissioning services at the hydroelectric plants, in addition to laying a transmission line to Tingo María.

According to the company, the 8 de Agosto hydroelectric plant is anticipated to generate around 141GWh of energy annually, while the El Carmen hydroelectric plant will generate 52.3GWh.

Earlier in 2013, the company has commenced operations in Qatar, India and Mozambique. It also secured projects across 20 countries.

Sacyr Vallehermoso is involved in the construction, promotion, and operation of conventional and renewable energy projects consisting of biomass and cogeneration, wind farms, thermosolar energy, and geothermal energy.
