Lambertz asserted that the other major factors for coal-fired plants becoming economically impractical are the high cost involved in execution of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions as well as the oscillating fuel and electricity prices in a liberalized marketplace.
