RWE, an integrated electricity and gas company, has appointed Dr Jurgen Grobmann as its new CEO, effective October 1, 2007.

He will succeed Harry Roels, who will resign from his office, effective September 30, 2007. Mr Roels offered the supervisory board an early termination of his appointment ending January 31, 2008 in order to enable a smooth change of leadership.

Supervisory board chairman Dr Thomas Fischer thanked him expressly for his extraordinary services to the RWE Group: The term in office of Mr Roels with his extensive international experience has been an extremely successful period for the RWE Group. The strategic realignment and long-term improvement of the Group’s financial situation are tremendous corporate achievements. Under his leadership, RWE initially focused on the group’s core business and then initiated a phase of organic growth including the largest investment program in the history of RWE.
