The agreements followed talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter’s two-day visit to Russia.
Putin was quoted by The BricsPost as saying: "It is a pleasure to note that we are consistently and confidently developing the privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India."
Russia will construct 12 atomic plants in India, in partnership with local companies.
Russian state nuclear company Rosatom will consider manufacturing of nuclear reactor units in India as part of the government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.
Modi said: "The pace of our cooperation in nuclear energy is increasing. We are making progress on our plans for twelve Russian nuclear reactors at two sites.
"The agreement today will increase Indian manufacturing content in these reactors. It supports my mission of Make in India."
The countries also signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) on technical cooperation in railway sector, for construction of solar energy plants in India and for cooperation for geologic survey – exploration and production of hydrocarbons.
Indian Oil Corporation and Oil India signed a memorandum of understanding with Rosneft to acquire a stake in Taas-Yuriakh oil assets in East Siberia.
