Rockhopper Exploration has started drilling operations at the 14/10-3 exploration well in the North Falkland Basin.
The well is located 8km north west of the Sea Lion 14/10-2 discovery well on the Licence PL032, in which the company holds a 100% working interest.
The well is located on the undrilled northern lobe of the Sea Lion fan system and will also penetrate the distal, downdip portion of the newly-identified and underlying S2 fan body that has been mapped over an area of 42 sq km.
Total depth for the 14/10-3 well is planned to be approximately 3,000m and the drilling operations are expected to take approximately 38 days.
Rockhopper carries out an offshore oil exploration program to the north of the Falkland Islands.
