Under the MOU, the company, along with its partners Blue Energy & Environment Company (Thailand), Vantage Company (Myanmar) and Kyaw Kyaw Phyo Company, will jointly develop the Myeik clean coal-fired power project in Thaninthayi region.
RATCH chief executive officer Pongdith Potchana said: "The today’s agreement signing between two parties launches the beginning of official project development which includes the feasibility study of the project and the assessment of environmental and health impacts.
"The project development cost is expected to reach THB170 billion.
"RATCH aims to develop this project as a pilot project of clean-coal fired power plant in Myanmar by closely working with relevant agents and local community for sustainable benefits for all relevant parties and gaining utmost public acceptance."
In addition to help improving the quality of life of people in the south of Myanmar, the project is expected to help promote the economic and social development for Myanmar overall.
The project construction, completion and power generation is scheduled by 2020, if studies determine potential for the project.
