Raritan’s PX line of intelligent power distribution units (PDU) provides power usage insights on individual servers and other IT devices, enabling organizations to set and implement power policies, such as scheduling equipment to shut down when not in use, for energy and cost savings.

EnergyWise on the other hand is a Cisco IOS network-based power monitoring and management system that can connect to any energy-consuming device with the ability to group and query network devices and apply energy management policies to connected devices in a scalable way.

The interoperable system, which will combine Cisco EnergyWise with multiple Raritan intelligent PDUs, will enable customers to monitor the exact power consumption of all devices in every rack within the data center.

Cisco vice president of ethernet switching technology group Jeff Reed said that Raritan’s power intelligence capabilities at the device level provide important insights on how to improve energy efficiency in data centers and other locations.
