Under the contract, Pöyry will be responsible for the detail design for the civil engineering of the powerhouse, and structural reviews, including the roller-compacted concrete (RCC) dam, power intake and penstocks, piano-key weir spillway solution, diversion structures with two tunnels and bottom outlet.

Pöyry will partner with Temelsu to execute the detail design work for the project till the end of 2017.

The Lower Kaleköy plant is designed to have an annual generation capacity of around 1200GWh.

The Lower Kaleköy plant is one of the four hydroelectric power plants, which will have a combined installed capacity of 1,855MW, planned to be developed on the Murat River by Kalehan Enerji Üretim ve Ticaret (Kalehan Energy Generation).

Kalehan Energy Generation is a joint venture between Özaltin Construction and Cengiz Construction Kalehan Enerji.

The other three plants include Beyhan I, Beyhan II, and the upper Kalekoy hydropower plants.

In 2011, Poyry was selectged for detail design of the Beyhan I powerhouse and reviewing other structures of the project.

The work included the dam, penstocks, spillway, diversion structures, the bottom outlet, and the switchyard.
