OMV is the operator for production licence 537. The field is around 166 nautical miles north of Hammerfest and 250 nautical miles north-east of Tromsø.
The coordinates of the wells will be:
– 73° 26′ 30.7" N
– 24° 15′ 39.8" E
Drilling will be carried out by Transocean Spitsbergen, which is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the Aker H-6e type. The facility was completed in 2009 at the Aker Solutions yard in Stord; it is registered in the Marshall Islands and classified by DNV GL.
The PSA has now granted OMV consent for exploration drilling.
