Under the €230m contract, signed with 50Hertz Offshore, Prysmian will to design, produce and install a power cable system for the offshore wind park cluster West of Adlergrund.

The deal follows a €480m contract awarded by 50Hertz in May 2014 to Prysmian for the supply of the power cabling system at the project.

The project scope involved the design, supply and installation of multiple high voltage submarine cable systems.

The new contract scope also includes additional connection, between planned Offshore Wind Parks, approximately 40km north-east of the island of Ruegen, to the Lubmin substation in North East Germany.

The route will involve around 90km of submarine lines and 3km of onshore lines.

Prysmian will produce the 220kV high voltage alternate current (HVAC) 3-core extruded cables, including fibre optic cable system, at its centers in Pikkala, Finland, and Arco Felice, Italy.

The West of Adlergrund cable systems’ production has already commenced with installation work planned to commence in 2015.
