Expansion of the Flex Fuel E85 stations means increased access to low carbon Flex Fuel E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline).
Currently a million vehicles ply on California roads using the said Flex Fuel.
Propel Fuels CEO Matt Harton said, "This funding will enable us to provide greater access to E85 in the state’s most underserved markets and provide a critical link to the next generation of low carbon fuels coming into production."
Expected to be accomplished by 2016, the gas stations project will help displace 145 million gallons of petroleum and eliminate 470,000 tons of CO2 emissions per annum.
Apart from this grant under State of California’s AB 118 Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program, Propel plans to bring in $24m private investments to meet all desired objectives.
