UK-BASED POWERGEN HAS announced plans for site investigations into two new hydro plants in Scotland.

Using the existing Powergen Renewables brand, the company plans to develop the plants at Rannoch in Perth and Kinross and Garbat in the Highlands.

Alan Raymant of Powergen Renewables said: ‘We’ve made a very real commitment to the production of renewable, clean, green energy that will last for decades and generations.’ Powergen renewables has also taken over the running of Powergen’s 50MW hydro power plant at Rheidol in Ceredigion, and plans to install an additional 10MW in coming years.
