US-based Portland General Electric has agreed to acquire and construct phase II Lower Snake River wind farm in southeastern Washington, which is accounted to be around $535m.

As per the agreed terms, RES Americas Construction will construct the proposed wind power facility, which is currently under development by Puget Sound Energy.

The proposed 267MW wind power facility will use 116 wind turbines manufactured by Siemens Energy.

During the construction phase, the wind power facility will create approximately 300 jobs, while 18 people will be hired for full-time operating positions.

The facility, which is anticipated to be completed in 2015, will generate clean electricity to power around 84,000 residential customers.

Meanwhile, Portland General Electric has also agreed to construct a new 440 megawatt natural gas-fired power plant near Boardman, Ohio.
