Petrobras and Mitsui will each hold a 50% stake in the new company, Participacoes Nippo Brasileira em Complexos Bioenergeticos.
The new projects will focus on meeting the future Japanese demand for ethanol, and will reportedly be deployed in compliance with the socio-environmental and energy efficiency requirements for biofuel production in bioenergetic complexes.
The new firm’s creation is said to be in line with Petrobras’s strategic plan, which foresees boosting performance in the biofuel markets as a major integrated energy company.
