The well, which is producing 33,000 barrels per day (bpd), is connected to FPSO Cidade de São Paulo by a pioneering system in which the output pipeline riser is supported by a submerged buoy, anchored to the seabed and located at a depth of around 240m.
The riser support buoy (RSB) is immune to platform movements in this position, according to the company.
The buoy, which is attached to the seabed by means of eight1,828m steel tendons, measures 40 x 52m and weighs 1,936 metric tons.
The system has been built and installed by Subsea 7, which is capable of stabilising pipes from up to three production wells and two injection wells.
Petrobras plans to interconnect the next production well to FPSO Cidade de São Paulo by the end of first quarter.
