The system improvements include replacement about 2.5 miles of aging water main and deployment of new fire hydrants in its Butler County system to improve service reliability and improve fire protection for residents.
Pennsylvania American Water operations superintendent Jake Gentile said the investment will improve service throughout the Butler District by replacing aging pipe with a history of breaks, such as Pillow Street.
"These projects also will improve fire protection," Gentile said.
The latest pipeline improvements are in addition to the company’s approximately $18m upgrade taking place at the Lake Oneida and Thorn Run dams.
During the next six months, the company plans to install new water lines and hydrants in Butler Township, Butler Township and Butler Township.
