The acquisition of ECI, which has implemented energy conservation projects for a range of facilities, including universities and school districts, hospitals and other customers, will enable OpTerra to offer an array of energy efficiency services and technologies to public and private sector customers.
OpTerra backed by investment firm GFI Energy Group, adds ECI to its growing portfolio of regional ESCOs to accelerate its participation in utility demand response programs in high-cost energy states and to grow its coverage of the South-western US market for energy efficiency services.
ECI president Jack McGowan said that joining OpTerra will enable the next phase of growth for ECIO and it looks forward to leveraging OpTerra’s operating platform to launch its energy efficiency and demand response solutions into new markets including Southern California and Florida.
"In addition, the financial backing of GFI Energy-managed funds will allow us to implement projects of larger and more complex scope," McGowan said.
