China is mulling the possibility of buying electricity from the Bureya hydroelectric plant under construction in the Amursk region of Russia.

According to RIA Novosti news agency reports, a group of officials of the Syrius company and leaders of China’s Xunke district paid a visit to the 2000MW project to discuss direct energy supplies to Xunke.

While the delegation wanted the first electricity to be supplied as early as next year, it is thought that Bureya will not be able to deliver energy to China until 2008, when the final generator is put into operation.
