NRG Energy Services has taken over all operating and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities at the Homer City coal-fired plant under a long-term operating agreement with the station’s owner.

The company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of US-based NRG Energy, has agreed on the O&M of the Homer City Generating Station through its Homer City Services company.

Located in Indiana County of Pennsylvania, the three unit, 1,884MW power plant is owned by an affiliate of GE Energy Financial Services and a minority investor, from its previous operator.

NRG Energy Services president Don Poe highlighted the firm’s capability in owning, operating and maintaining power plants including fossil fuel and nuclear.

"By leveraging our operational experience and capabilities, we are able to deliver valuable services to the Homer City plant and clearly demonstrate NRG Energy Services’ commitment to quality, successful third-party operations," Poe added.

"As an O&M service provider, NRG Energy Services focuses on bringing an operation model that drives improvements in plant reliability and availability.

"We deliver custom-tailored O&M solutions that address asset optimization for today’s market conditions."
