NRG Energy and Eurus Energy America have partnered on three solar photovoltaic power projects with a total generating capacity of 45MW in Kings County, California.

The solar projects – Avenal Park, Sun City and Sand Drag – were developed by Eurus and will be built and owned jointly by Eurus and NRG.

The companies have completed construction financing on all the three projects, which will generate enough power to meet the needs of approximately 36,000 homes.

Ryan Company, an engineering, procurement and contracting firm, will construct the projects and has been given notice to proceed on the 20MW Sun City and the 19MW Sand Drag project.

The power generated from the projects will be sold to Pacific Gas & Electric under a 20-year agreement, which has been approved by the California Public Utilities Commission.

The projects will be built with thin film solar panels provided by Sharp Electronics and are expected to start commercial operation in mid-2011.
