THE PROPOSED SALE OF hydroelectric plants by the National Power Corporation (NPC) of the Philippines would include long-term water rights agreements that would be passed onto buyers.

The water rights agreements, to be entered initially by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation and the National Irrigation Administration would ensure the allocation of irrigation and requirements for domestic water supply, aside from the allotted water supply for the use of the power plants.

Once the assets are privatised, the water rights would be assigned to the buyers of the assets.

Several hydro power facilities are among the generation assets lined up for sale.
