The 150,000sq ft production facilty was supported with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Under the Recovery Act, Nordex received a tax credit for $22.2m to assist in the creation of the wind turbine plant in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The plant will build nacelles for 2.5MW turbines that belong to Nordex’s new third generation efficiency class – the Gamma generation.
The total planned investment for the site is approximately $100m, with further manufacturing capacity to be added in a second phase in line with market conditions.
Nacelles house the engine and other key turbine components and sit high atop the turbine tower.
