This agreement has been signed in return for several water treatment project for the several community improvements near the plant site.
As per the terms of the agreement, the Western Wake Partners will construct two bus shelters for school children and contribute $0.5m toward a New Hill community center.
The partners will also run water and sewer infrastructure to the New Hill community center, provided the center is built within close proximity to the treatment plant.
Western Wake Partners policy advisory committee chair person Apex Mayor Keith Weatherly said this project is necessary due to the state’s interbasin transfer rules and to provide additional treatment capacity for new or expanding businesses in RTP South, Apex, Cary and Morrisville.
"Our plant will also ensure our neighbors on the Cape Fear River have adequate water to meet their demands," added Weatherly.
