Tunnelling work at the 969MW Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower project in Pakistan is expected to be completed in April this year, the Express Tribune has reported, marking a major milestone for the project.

The project involves 68km of tunnels. Excavation of the left tunnel was completed in October 2016, and according to reports from WAPDA, work is on track to complete the remaining excavation over the next couple of months.

The first unit at Neelum-Jhelum is expected to come online in February 2018, with the remaing three units ready for test run by April 2018.
