Northwest Ohio Wind Energy is one of 12 families of community-based wind projects presently being developed by its parent company.
The new subsidiary is planning to develop 300 MW of wind power projects in Paulding and Van Wert counties in northwestern Ohio. It started operations by signing leases with local landowners.
As wind development increases in the state, many farmers and landowners are joining groups to educate themselves on what wind projects could mean for their livelihoods, says Terry McClure, chairman of the Northwest Ohio Wind Energy local advisory board. Our group out in Paulding and Van Wert counties decided that a community-based project would likely add more to our local economy than a traditional wind development.
