Namibian power utility Nampower is in talks with InnoSun to establish a solar power facility in the country.

The electricity generated at the plant will be used to power the desalination plant, which will be developed by InnoSun.

Zimbabwean power utility ZESA will purchase the surplus clean electricity generated at the proposed solar power plant, under a power purchase agreement.

Commenting on the development, InnoSun project manager Usuta Imbili was quoted by allafrica.com as saying that the project is awaiting license from the Electricity Control Board.

Meanwhile, Nampower has agreed to provide $40m to restore ZESA’s Hwange thermal power station in 2007.

Currently, InnoSun is developing wind and photovoltaic projects across Namibia.
