As per the agreement, Nalco will provide its patented MERCONTROL 7895 technology to help AEPCO reduce mercury emissions in order to comply with the state of Arizona’s mercury emissions regulations, which take effect on 1 January 2011.
The agreement will require Nalco Mobotec to deliver and install injection equipment in addition to supplying and delivering the MERCONTROL 7895 product.
The use of Nalco Mobotec’s MERCONTROL 7895 technology, which underwent a six months testing process conducted by AEPCO, is expected to enable Arizona Electric Power to achieve an 80% reduction in mercury emissions, thus exceeding Arizona’s mandate of 50%.
Nalco senior executive vice president Dave Flitman said that its MERCONTROL technology is giving the power industry the ability to take significant steps in the removal of mercury from their emissions.
“As we continue to see more stringent emissions regulations, our customers are using Nalco Mobotec’s innovative, differentiated solutions to quickly come into compliance,” Flitman said.
