One ton of uranium produces enough energy than is produced by several million tons of coal or several million barrels of oil.

NACCIMA President, Dr. Simon Okolo, gave this advice during a facility tour of some industries in Nnewi-Anambra State.

Okolo has toured companies like Cutix PLC; JIMEX Group of companies Ltd, Johnray Industries Ltd, Innoson Motors Manufacturing Ltd; Kotec Group of companies Ltd, and AZ Industries Ltd.

The Federal Government should strengthen efforts towards development of nuclear energy stressing that if developed and added to national power grid, nuclear power will ensure stable electric power supply to industries and homes.

Okolo has enjoined the government to give the country stable power supply, pointing out that erratic public power supply and other infrastructure deficits had greatly hampered economic growth and development.

Prince Emeka Ayabazu, chairman association of Anambra State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, also said that ineffective electric power supply and death of other business infrastructures in the country will hinder Nigeria’s vision 2020.

Ayabazu therefore, called on government to put in more hard work to ensure that Nigeria gets the electric power it needs to fire her industrial take off.

It is really litany of woes confronting our industries who incure an additional 40 per cent increase in cost of production for sourcing their own electricity. PAN has said it just spent N800 million on generating sets to get the plant running more regularly. And this excludes cost of diesel. Our Textile Industry inspite of the 70 billion stimulus package promised it by government is virtually dead. The tyre manufacturing industry in Nigeria is no more due to high cost of doing business in Nigeria Ayabazu stated.
